Alejandro B. (Colombian Alex)
Director

As a Colombian, dancing has been a very important part of my life. Since my early years I have enjoyed dancing with my family and friends. Latin dancing is a key element in our culture where it enables us to express our feelings and emotions through music. In South America and most of the Hispanic communities dancing has been present in our history dating back to our ancestors. The Native Indians and the slaves that were brought out from Africa to America leave us with this legacy full of colour, rhythm and passion.

I have been teaching Street Latin Dancing in the Gold Coast for the last 9 years. During this period of time I've participated in multiple displays and demonstrations for private and corporate functions (Indy Carnival Parades, ANA Hotel Christmas Party, Latin On the Beach, Surfers Paradise Surf Life Saving Club New Years Eve Party, Mount Tamborine State Primary School, Palazzo Versace Christmas party, Evergreen Shopping Centre, Catholic Philipino-Australian Chaplaincy and the Gold Coast Multicultural Association, Life Education Queensland, Newman Petroleum, Circle On Cavill, Q1 Qdeck Salsa, Sonora Carruseles Concert and Wilson Saoko Concert  to name a few.

My classes run several days a week throughout different Gold Coast and Brisbane venues. I teach Colombian style salsa, Cuban style salsa, cumbia, cha cha cha, bachata, merengue, rueda,  rumba, vallenato.

We aim to pass on our knowledge of dancing, and teach you with authentic Latin style. We will introduce the basics steps and rhythm. We want you to have fun and be able to express yourself by dancing freely and naturally in the same way people dance in Latin America, by feeling the music and transforming it with your own expression.

Kerryann Daffin
Funk & Tap Instructor/ Assistent Teacher

My name is Kerryann Daffin, I have been dancing for the past eighteen years and teaching for the last five. I believe dance is a passion, there is no right or wrong, nor such a thing as person who can’t do it, only a feeling to found and embraced.

My mother always told me that ‘even before you could walk, the groove had began’, with her having great difficulty trying to stop the bouncing and dancing, she embraced it, and at the age of three I was auditioned for FAD (Fitness and Dance studios).

I began my jazz-funk training here. In 1992, one year later, I was put into competition level representing FAD, and took-out the “Tinies Championship”.
Shortly after that, my family and I moved to the Gold Coast and at the age of four, i joined DC121 (Dance Company 121), I studied, trained, and performed with DC121 for sixteen years, gaining the ability to perform many styles of dance, including, Funk, Hip-Hop, Tap, Jazz, and Contemporary ballet
.

Throughout my scholastic years I participated in dance and drama performances, representing my school and choreographing many routines, throughout this time I undertook studies in contemporary dance theories and learnt about the origins and evolutionary processes of dance concepts, as-well as working with ZAC-Entertainment, performing dance and drama pieces for advertising.
I have Personal Training experience gained from ADFA, and ample knowledge in Health and dietetics.
For the past year I have been learning Latin style dancing with Latinmania and haven’t looked back, I love what I do, and hope that I can help to inspire you in your dance-journey.
